And now with sepia tones. This is actually from the same spread I did a few nights ago. I ended up adding this woman. I really love how the sepia changes the mood of it. The negative image seems edgy, while this seems really soft and beautiful to me. Posted by Hello

This is the original, before I played around with the negative image below. It's interesting that I end up preferring the digital versions to my original work--I like the cropped effects or re-coloring or using negatives. I also noticed how I have a penchant for mysterious women. It occurred to me a few weeks ago that I'm often searching for my mother in these women. They usually have their backs turned, or their faces are blurry or they're looking into some distance, never at me. I'm drawn to these kinds of pictures somehow.  Posted by Hello

I totally love using the negative tool in my paint program because it gives me these amazing images. I only wish that they'd print in colors this good. I need a better printer. Or maybe a visit to Kinkos. Anyway, I'm digging how this one turned out. Posted by Hello

I've taken out the paints again and started working in my art journals. Very slow progress, but I'm just making myself do SOMETHING. I liked how this turned out after I colored it sepia with my paint program. I'd had the cut-out of the woman's face, left over from cutting out a figure on the other side, and had been looking for a place to use it.  Posted by Hello

Another experiment with negatives, this time with some cropping.  Posted by Hello

I love experimenting with my paint program and seeing what comes up.  Posted by Hello

I love how the sunflower becomes a crown for this woman. This was probably my favorite of the night, in its own way. . .  Posted by Hello

The woman is the image that first drew me. The rest was just finding things that worked with her. I find this very restful . . .  Posted by Hello

Lisa Vollrath challenged us to keep our gluing simple, for those who may struggle with knowing when to finish. So the challenge, to create work using only three elements. I actually find these easier to do, although there's a part of me that feels that I'm somehow cheating by not making things more complicated.  Posted by Hello
