I do most of my work in a journal, but as I start to sell my art, I realize that I need to do more work outside of that format. Similar techniques, but on separate sheets of water color paper.
I love starting with Gelli printed backgrounds because usually they give me a starting point--I can see what is "meant" to be painted and I go from there. The hand on the face here, for example, sort of showed up. I saw the body first and then once I drew in the face, there was that hand around her eye. This is one of my favorites now.
