I love how the background turned out one this one--I did a layer of blue and gray paint, followed by adhering torn pieces of white tissue paper and then overpainting with silver and two different shades of blue. The little girl in the communion dress is my mother. I want to do more with that photo of her--I love the innocence of it--and thought I'd start with this. I like to think that although I never really knew her, these were all aspects of who she was.
