Everyday Matters

I recently joined the Everyday Matters group and have been receiving daily e-mails encouraging me to draw. As usual, I resisted, but I've finally given in.

"Why are you drawing now?" asked Darvin, who's come to think of me as a collage artist.

"I don't know. I guess to try something different. I'm feeling stagnant with my collage. This is something new."

And so, my first attempt--"Darvin playing X-box" in gel pen and watercolor pencil.  Posted by Picasa

I love the way you captured the very intent forward thrust of his head! And you kept the figure "whole" and in one piece, rather than looking like a head attached to a trunk with arms attached ... if you know what I mean. Good job! Glad you started drawing!

Welcome to the drawing world! (I'm in just the opposite situation -- been primarily a sketcher and now I'm playing with collage.) It'll be interesting to see how your drawing affects collage and vice versa. Good job and thanks for sharing!
