Illustration Friday--Small

When I saw today's Illustration Friday theme--"small"--all I could think of was how much I hated being a child, how it felt like I was supposed to be living in "Barbie World" (or was it Brady Bunch World?), when the reality was that I was living in "Dysfunctional Alcoholic Parents Who Are Also Mentally Ill But Let's Pretend Everything's OK" World. So a digital homage to the perils of "small."

We must have been neighbors when we were kids. Your siblings! Excellent collage too. Thanks.

Very powerful. I was going to say that I didn't like the words on it, but after looking again, I realize they add greatly to the sad power of the work - I shouldn't have looked too fast at first, had to go back and really look and think. Really strong work!

This certainly conveys the darker side of childhood...it's a very strong image. Your text brings out the irony of people's idea of childhood...it isn't always perfect and happy.

This is strong, true collection-quality work--revealing the truth and darkness that the illusion of "Barbie's World" tries to hide.

Outstanding!

Poor sad little, wise face...hiding in the shadows while the world swirls around.
Painful to look at but so well done!
