Illustration Friday--Blue Redux

I'm getting back into collage and it feels good. Yes, the dining room is a mess again with paints and paper everywhere, but the sense of some discovery is returning to my work, which I've sorely missed. What I used to love abut collage is that it felt organic to me somehow, as though there was a work in there you were trying to uncover. When I'm greeted with a blank piece of paper and a drawing implement, I lose that feeling and then I get lost in the process. I'm particularly liking black lately--black with anything, but particularly with blue and pink. There's a sort of stark contrast that I like.

The quote in this piece, "Learn by experience, Mrs. Kennedy," is a fragment of type left over from one of the old books I use for backgrounds. Darvin always thinks that my quotes are strange, but I like the non sequitur quality that sometimes emerges. It's part of that discovery process, too.

It's a great quote I think. I learned something from this entry. Even though art is always messy, do it anyways! Thank you for sharing

Oh, I think the text has a marvelous sardonic quality to it...perfect with the skeleton that seems to be making the attempt to walk away from its dark background. Well done!

This talks! Skeletons always have something to say, and this line works perfectly. I also like the rumbled fabric look to the background--the shroud?

Great collage. Love the colors and texture. And isn't the messiness half the fun of art?

I am not sure what to take away from this, but I know I like it. Great job.
