African Mask

Sometimes the faces I find in a Gelli print are incredibly stylized, like this one. I found the left eye first and then went from there. I really love how this turned out--it has a sort of African mask quality to it--maybe it's the colors, which I don't typically work with.

The print was made using Golden acrylics and the orange color is quinacridone gold, which is just a gorgeously transparent. You can see that I used a Montana red paint marker over the right eye and that really flattened things out there. Note to self--do not mess with the quinacridone gold.
